Bento Lunches

Bento boxes are  Japanese boxes consisting of traditional food, often with dividers between the food (you might have seen them in a Japanese restaurant). In Japan they often refer to the lunches for children as obento (an affectionate term for bento). The tradition of packing fun, cute, lunches for children in Japan has migrated to Hawaii and more recently to the mainland US. I started packing bento lunches for my daughter in 2009.

In my cookbook I explain how to choose the right box, how to pack bento, and many more tips on making bento for kids.

On my blog (at least for now), I mostly describe how I made the individual bento presented in each post. I do have a little Amazon store where you can shop for bento supplies.
